The 57th most common last name in China. There are two main sources of the Wangs. 1) During the Xia Dynasty, Fangfeng was awarded the kingdom of Wangmang, in the mountain of Yu (east of Wukang in Zhejiang). People in the kingdom were giants (~9 feet tall). One time, Fangfeng was late for a meeting with Yu Di, in Huiji, and was executed. The Wangmang people fled to a mountain in Wuzhou. During Zhan Guo, the Wangmang kingdom was destroyed by the Chu kingdom, and its people escaped to Anhui and began to bear the last name Wang. 2) During Chun Qiu, the son of Lu Cheng Gong was awarded the duke of Wang, and his descendents are also known as the Wangs. (Wang means vastness of the ocean).

Hometown: south east of Lingpeng in Shanxi Province.
