The name Luo came from the surname Jiang. Qi Tai Gong, Jiang Shang, of the Dong Zhou Dynasty had a son called Luo. Luos descendents adopted his first name as their surname. Another origin of this family name came from a tribe called Luo Ba Shi of the Bei Wei Dynasty, who later changed their name to Luo.
