The 18th most common last name in China. The name Guo was record in ancient history. In Xia Dynasty, there was Guo Zhi and in Shang Dynasty, there was Guo Chong. Unfortunately, its not clear who were their ancestors. During Xi Zhou Dynasty, the brother of Zhou Wen Wang, Ji Zhong was awarded the Guo kingdom. Guo was a very weak kingdom and was close to being eliminated. Zhou Ping Wang (770-719 B.C.) wanted to award the Guo kingdom to Zheng Wu for his achievements.
