The 77th most common last name in China. This last name originated from Jiang family. During early Zhou, (Tai Gong Wang) Lu Shang was made the duke of Qi on the east of Ying Qiu (south east of Changle in Shandong). Lu Shang was a beloved duke among his people, simplifying the etiquette to suit the local custom. He also encouraged his people to market their resources like salt and fish, and Qi soon became a powerful kingdom. Later, the Qi kingdom moved their capital to Linliu, and only one clan of the family remained in Ying Qiu. These descendents took on the last name of Qiu.
Hometown: Wuxing in Zhejiang Province.
