The Pengs are the descendents of Peng Zu, a grandson of Zhuan Xu. Peng Zus grandson Peng Fu was a treasurer of Xi Zhou Dynasty. The Chinese word for money is Qian, thus the official title of Treasury became the last name of Qian. After Han and Wei Dynasty, Qians migrated south to Hu Zhou of ZheJiang where they made their hometown. |
