The 25th most common last name in China. Zhou Wu Wang made his youngest son the duke of Han, in charge of the Han kingdom (south east of HeJin in ShanXi Province). At the end of the Zhou Dynasty, the Jin kingdom eliminated Han. Jin Wu Gong made his uncle, Ji Wan, the duke of Han, known as Han Wu Zi. Starting from the great grandson of Wu Zi, Han Jue, the name Han has been adopted as the family name. During Chun Qiu period, Han Qian (seven generations from Han Jue), together with Wei and Zhao, split Jin into three kingdoms. Han thus became one of the seven kingdoms in Zhan Guo. In 230 B.C., the Han kingdom was brought to an end by Qin, and its people began to bear the last name Han.

Hometown: Nan Yang in HeNan Province.
