Sima Guang breaking the vat
1. Once when Sima Guang was a little boy, he was playing one
ball with his friends in the courtyard.
2. A boy suddenly kicked the ball into a large vat full of
water.
3. All the children ran to the vat. They talked about how to
take the ball out.
4. “Let’s push the vat over!” “Come on!” “Come on!”
5. They tried to push the vat over, but it was too heavy to be
moved.
6. So another boy stepped on a child’s shoulders to reach the
ball. Accidentally, he fell into the vat. “Help!!!”
7. “Let’s go and call our parents!” “But it would be too
late when they arrive.” The children were
frightened and didn’t know what to do.
8. “I’ve got an idea.”At this time, Sima Guang picked up a
large stone and broke the vat with it. Then the
water flowed out.
9. The child was saved.
10. Everybody praised Sima Guang’s cleverness and
calmness.
